Projects from the UK, Bangladesh, Greece and Trinidad and Tobago were among the 15 shortlisted for Film Independent’s 19th Fast Track Film Finance Market which took place online from November 15-18, announced the organization on Friday.
The four-day program connected participating filmmakers with financiers, production companies, agents, managers and other film industry professionals, including A24, DECAL, Maven Screen Media, Searchlight Pictures, the Venice Film Festival and Hollywood Agencies.
Recent completed Fast Track projects include Bing Liu’s 2019 Oscar-nominated documentary Consider the gap; The 2019 Berlinale Jury Prize and Hikari’s First Audience Prize 37 seconds; by Kirill Mikhanovsky give me freedom which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and Cannes Directors’ Fortnight; and Chloé Zhao’s Spirit Award-nominated debut album Songs that my brothers taught me.
The $20,000 Sloan Fast Track Grant to support the production of a project that explores science and technology themes or characters in an engaging and innovative way has been awarded to Movers Bangladesh written and directed by Nuhash Humayun and produced by Arifur Rahman and Bijon Imtiaz. The story centers on a motorcycle-based carpooling app that changed the face of travel in the developing world.
