The Honorable Chris Bowen, MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy
The Australian government has appointed energy sector expert, Mr Tony Concannon, to the board of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and reappointed Ms Nicola Wakefield Evans, Ms Samantha Tough and Ms Andrea Slattery.
CEFC provides debt and equity financing to clean energy projects to leverage private sector investment, facilitate a low-emissions economy and assist Australia’s transition to net-zero emissions.
In August, CEFC celebrated ten years of operation and recently surpassed lifetime investment commitments of $10 billion.
Mr. Concannon will begin a five-year term on October 5, 2022 alongside the reappointed members.
He will fill the position left vacant by the departure of Ms. Leeanne Bond, who has served on the Board for over five years and brought invaluable knowledge through her extensive engineering and business experience.
Finance Minister Senator Katy Gallagher thanked Ms Bond for her service and congratulated Mr Concannon on his appointment.
“CEFC has a crucial role to play in supporting our clean energy future while delivering positive returns to Australian taxpayers.”
“I look forward to working with the Board to support the Albanian government’s program to reduce emissions.”
Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen said CEFC had a vital role to play in helping Australia meet its emissions reduction targets.
“With Australia’s 43% reduction and net zero emissions targets now enshrined in legislation, this government is delivering long-term energy policies so businesses can invest with certainty,” said Minister Bowen.
“As a market investor, CEFC accelerates opportunity through investments that support clean energy projects, including renewable energy generation, energy efficiency and other low emissions.
technologies.”
